TAFE Adobe Photoshop: Posters
Design Brief
Design magazine posters based on distinct art styles, and an advertisement for a fitness shoe.
Design Solution
The first poster was a ‘low poly’ poster, using the selection tool to make triangles and ‘average’ the colour of the area. Certain areas had theirs colours altered to not blend in together too much. Her hand remained normal to provide contrast.
The second poster was based on the grimeart style. Tracing a shark mouth in Adobe Illustrator, it was then added to the image via masking, with the addition of drawn waves based on old Japanese paintings, to make it look like the shark was trying to eat the surfer. The drawn elements were given filters to make them look
rougher and painted.
The fitness shoe advert was inspired by 80s workout themes, using abstract shapes and colours in the background for that 80s feel. The racing stripe arrow was chosen to keep it sports themed, and its pink colour matched the shoe, which was cropped out from a real photo. The tagline keeps the wavy effect of the background, while the written words match the action in the ad.
