TAFE Graphics: Gamit Magazine

Design Brief

Design a character and a cover for a gaming magazine.

Design Solution

The character I created for this project used a pose based on a fighting game character — Terry Bogard, the character for this project was also designed for a fighting game. This was my first experience drawing a whole body, especially a female body, and I learnt the techniques of shading and using the blob brush tool to colour my linework in.
The gaming magazine cover was drawn on A3, to match the character created for the gaming magazine as a new upcoming game. As my character is a street brawler, a back alley was drawn. This was then coloured in pencil, before getting scanned and then colour being overlaid in Adobe Photoshop.
I chose to use comic book styled fonts for the main font of the magazine. I used a clean and simple logo for the magazine, with the base of the logo being inspired by volutes (The curves on stone columns).
